I normally don’t post about restaurants unless I take pictures of the food, but this weekend I had such a fantastic dinner at Public, my neighborhood “free spirited fusion” spot, that I can’t resist.
First off the space. Wowzas. Industrial chic. Love the garage door. It’s quite possibly the best designed restaurant I’ve ever been in.

Iris, New Orleans
Is it possible to have a bad meal in New Orleans? Except for my fried shrimp po’ boy straight from the freezer at the airport, I think not. On Friday, I had a delicious lunch at Iris. First off, the space is incredible. Bright and airy with an Iris garden motif. Totally my style. They’re also serving up a recession special: three course lunch prix fixe for $20.

Bahamas Dining Roundup
I just returned from five days in the extraordinary Exumas, the Bahamas’ most beautiful chain of islands. In the “Out Islands” there are no Bobby Flay restaurants, Starbucks, or even stoplights. More Candle Cafe, Upper East Side
I try not to re-post about the same restaurants, but my lunch Sunday at Candle was just so incredible I have to share. I’m not eating dairy for two weeks (one week down, one to go), and it was so great to be able to go to a restaurant and order anything i wanted off the menu with no worries. Even ice cream!
