12 Memorable Meals in New Orleans: Locals and "Top... →
While in New Orleans I got to interview locals and Bravo’s Top Chefs about their favorite places to eat in the Big Easy. Check out the video!

Norma's, Midtown
Norma’s in the Parker Meridien is constantly called one of the best breakfasts in New York. But it’s also imperative that you have an expense account (there’s a $1000 frittata on the menu for crying out loud)…OR that your mom is in town. Lucky for me, I got a little mommy love last weekend. All I can say is come back soon mother dearest!
The meal starts with a free shot...

L'artusi, West Village
After multiple recommendations from friends, I decided it was time to find out what all the buzz was about at L’artusi. Turns out the buzz is well deserved. Not only are the Italian small plates innovative and delicious, but the service is impeccable! I’m not a stickler for good service, but when it slaps you in the face, suddenly all you can think is, “Ah-ha! This is what I’ve been...

Milk and Cookies Bakery, West Village
I paid Milk and Cookies another visit. Same sentiments as last time, although the oatmeal scotchie has improved.
We tried (from top to bottom) oatmeal scotchie, chocolate chip, peanut butter, and s’mores.
All in all, it’s a cute concept but the cookies aren’t life changing. If you’re going to have a cookie shop, you better have the best darn cookie recipe in the...

Grimaldi's Pizzeria, Brooklyn
Tourists and locals love this stuff, and I finally got to give it a try when I had a few friends in town.
The verdict? I wouldn’t wait 45 minutes again for it.
I’m not a huge thin crust fan, but I didn’t taste anything special that would warrant the wait. You can get the same thing at Angelo’s Pizza sans line. Seriously, what is the fascination with this place?!...

Shake Shack, Madison Square Park
You know one thing all that rain was good for last month? Short lines at Shake Shack. After years of wanting to go, I finally made it on a slightly drizzly night a few weeks back.
I sprang for the fried portobello burger, mostly thanks to this post. Seemed innocent enough, until I took one bite and there was a flavor explosion!
An explosion of muenster and cheddar cheese, that is, which came...

What I ate in Washington, DC
Besides a delicious Fourth of July picnic and half a dozen fluffy cupcakes, here’s where else I chowed down in our nation’s capital.
Cantina Marina. Pets and I started off the weekend with yummy margaritas and nachos. No tricks here, just your standard Mexican fare that always hits the spot at 5 o’clock. Bonus points for the cute location right on the water. Negative...

Georgetown Cupcake, Washington DC
I finally got to try DC’s most famous cupcakes. We arrived shortly after the shop opened at 11, and there was already a line down the street! These better be some darn good cupcakes, I thought.
We chose vanilla/vanilla, vanilla/chocolate, carrot, lemon (my fave of the bunch), chocolate lava, and chocolate hazelnut. I was really excited, as you can see. (please ignore the frosting that...

Eating in Minneapolis, Part II: New Restaurants!
After polling in-the-know Twin Citians, the two new restaurants I decided to try were Barrio and Brasa.
Barrio is a new Mexican tapas restaurant on Nicollet Avenue. We tried a few things off the late nite menu, and although tasty (sorry, too dark for pics!) I wasn’t blown away. Perhaps I’ll have to go back and try the full menu. The drink pictured above was my favorite part of the...

Eating in Minneapolis, Part I: Old Faithfuls
I’m shocked the scale is up five pounds today. I was expecting at least 10! In addition to my quest for the best pecan roll, here’s what I ate at my tried-and-true Minneapolis restaurants.
The Local. As promised, this was the first thing I ate in the Cities. And you know what? EPIC FAIL! Sure, the rachel was always casual fare, but it used to be the best! I don’t even...
