About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

My Non-Dairy Experiement.

So I decided to give up dairy for two weeks, just to see how it made me feel. And I think not eating dairy makes me feel good! In fact, my experiment has effortlessly carried on for an extra week! But I’m heading to the Big Easy in a few hours for a foodie weekend, and I’m not going to let dairy come in the way of me inhaling everything in sight. So I’ll make a few tweaks to my diet, but let’s be honest: no ice cream this summer? I think not.

Things I don’t miss:

Milk! I tried soy milk for the first time and actually prefer it. Even soy chai lattes are delish!

Hunks of cheese! I used to eat cheese and crackers for dinner pretty consistently. Now I’ve subbed hummus for cheese and am just as happy.

Butter! Before, I put butter on my muffins. Is that fat on fat? Regardless, I think I can make some cut backs here.

Things I truly miss:

Cheese on sandwiches and pasta: cheese does just make things taste better, and soy cheese isn’t cutting it yet.

Ice cream and Pinkberry: I don’t eat it that often, but who wants to live a life without it?

Hey all you vegans out there! Do you have any fun dairy-less products I should know about?? Fill me in!
