Back from New Orleans, Street Food Edition
New Orleans might very well be my new favorite foodie destination. I have hundreds of mouthwatering photos to share with you from my dining adventures around the city and at the Wine and Food Experience, but I’m totally zonked! So as a tide-me-over, here’s some of the street food I ate. Get hungry for more!

Snowballs! I freaking love shaved ice (not a snow cone!) so I was excited to come to New Orleans and taste their notorious snowballs. On my last day I found Miss Mary’s stand at Audubon Park. Out of 20-some flavors I chose dreamsicle, and went all out with a squirt of condensed cream on top. It was delicious, but next time I might skip the cream. It added an extra sweet punch, but I think the flavor will be crisper and more refreshing without it. Nevertheless, the snowball did not disappoint!

Beignets! I was worried the beignets at Cafe du Monde would be just a tourist trap, but thankfully my fear was unwarranted. These little powdery sugared doughnuts are served as a trio and come piping hot. It’s tradition to wash them down with a cafe au lait, so I had to partake in some caffeine. Eeks! All in the name of research!
