Mr. B’s Bistro, New Orleans
Of the restaurants I ate at in New Orleans, I have to give Mr. B’s top prize. The food was delicious and the atmosphere clubby and refined yet fun and not stiff. Here’s a rundown of what I ordered.
Appetizers

I was fortunate to try all of the appetizers on the menu, including crab cakes, duck spring rolls, jumbo sea scallops, panko-crusted jumbo shrimp, and fried oysters on the half shell (pictured above). Everything was spectacular! That’s the great thing about this place, you can’t go wrong!
The Main Event

I couldn’t pass up Mr. B’s signature dish: Barbecued Shrimp. Now let me tell you, I had to work for my dinner. The shrimp came in the shells, so I had to get my hands dirty to peel the little buggers. Luckily when you order this dish, it comes with a bib.

But it was all worth it, one of the best things I’ve ever had!
My Main Event: Dessert!

I couldn’t wait to have Mr. B’s pecan pie, and part of me was hoping the waiter would ask if I wanted it served with butter. A man I met in the Bahamas told me he ate at Mr. B’s and when he order the pecan pie, the waiter asked if he wanted it with butter. The guy said, “Butter on pecan pie? Who needs butter on pecan pie?” And the waiter enthusiastically exclaimed: “Everyyyyyyyybody!”
Mine came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead. I’m sure this was for the best.

One of my dining companions graciously let me take a picture of her Banana Fosters (banana cake with Fosters sauce, vanilla ice cream, and bruleed bananas).
