About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

Public, NoLita

I normally don’t post about restaurants unless I take pictures of the food, but this weekend I had such a fantastic dinner at Public, my neighborhood “free spirited fusion” spot, that I can’t resist.

First off the space. Wowzas. Industrial chic. Love the garage door. It’s quite possibly the best designed restaurant I’ve ever been in.

Some of the food I ate. Just try to tell me this doesn’t sound amazing/intriguing:

  • Guava and red chili margarita
  • Watermelon, feta, basil, and grilled pumpkin seeds salad
  • Sweetbreads (If you don’t know, don’t ask. They’re delicious, and I can’t believe I am admitting that.)
  • Lobster salad with candied mangoes
  • Barramundi with vanilla celeriac puree, braised garlic greens, verjus and muscat grape sauce
  • The best mahi mahi dish I’ve ever had: Asian gazpacho, tomatoes, olives, creme fraiche, and salmon roe.

Looking for a foodie who wants to do the Sunday Supper with me, a chef prepared $50 five course menu. Their brunch also sounds incredible. Can’t wait to return!
