Del Porto, New Orleans
I didn’t get to eat at this restaurant (just outside of New Orleans), but Del Porto did the food for an Italian wine tasting I attended, and it was some of the best eats I had all weekend.

First off, crostini. Starting up front and going clockwise: duck liver pate with pickled onion relish; rabbit with zucchini and pickles; and in the back, a cheese and relish spread. Now two of these three spreads I normally would not like. I finished all of them. Just goes to show sometimes things taste better when you don’t know what they are. Or stop being such a gosh darn picky eater.

This was a flavor explosion in my mouth. I’d go to the restaurant just to have it again. Homemade mozzarella bocconcini with tomato, basil, and pesto. So simple but insanely delicious.
