About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

The Stanton Social, Lower East Side

I again didn’t take food pics at The Stanton Social, but I think these descriptions speak for themselves. It was a fantastic, innovative dinner and I can’t wait to return. Perhaps to try the brunch menu?

Here’s what I ate, in order of favorite to least favorite:

  • Red Snapper Tacos with creamy avocado & spicy mango
  • Wild Mushroom Risotto Cakes dusted with parmagiano and crispy mushroom chips
  • Mac and Cheese with chorizo and ovendried tomato
  • Stone-ground Blue Corn Crabcake ‘Corn Dogs’
  • Grilled Cheese Slider with Jasper Hill Farms cheddar, house cured jalapeño bacon, fried green tomato, and lemon aioli
  • Chipotle Grilled Shrimp with tomatillo and feta relish
  • Grilled apple and brie quesadilla with mustard-maple glaze and smoked bacon bits
  • Wasabi pea crusted Salmon with asian pesto & soba noodle-beet salad

All washed down with a Blood Orange-Jalapeño Margarita that unfortunately did not hold a torch to the incredible Guava-Red Chili concoction I had last week at Public. Oh well, the excellent food, good girlfriends, and sexy ambience more than made up for the missed cocktail.
