About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

Ah, a sure sign of summer in NYC: food truck stories popping up left and right. Fodor’s did one last week, as did the New York Times. In addition to the carts Mascarah lists below (at the top for me are Calexico, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream [both in my hood], and the Dessert Truck), I am dying to try the Halal Guys in Midtown. Happy “street meat/treat” hunting!

The Food Truck Explosion: NYC Edition
Food trucks are all the rage. Just ask the Kogi fans who stalk the truck weekly in LA. Later this summer, Kogi will come to the City (!!) Until then, you have some other pretty damn good options. All who “tweet” where they are. I’m planning a truck pilgrimmage this summer where I will taste-test them all.
Do you have any favs I left off my list?
Calexico Carne Asada Cart Twitter: @CalexicoCart URL: calexicocart.com Three California brothers making carne asada tacos, chipotle pulled pork, and other Mexican-inspired food. Yumm!
Cupcake Stop Twitter: @CupcakeStop URL: cupcakestop.com Cupcakes on the fly. Have heard mixed feelings about their icing and cake quality.

Rickshaw Dumplings Twitter: @RickshawTruck Dumplings and dipping sauces from a truck covered in funny slogans like “Who’s Your Edamame?”  Those who know Rickshaw know the awesome bang for the buck.
