About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

The Great Minneapolis Pecan Roll-off, 2009

I love a good pecan roll (could be my favorite food item, ever), and for some reason I equate Minneapolis with this delectable deliciousness. Here’s what I found this trip:

Key’s Cafe. I was pumped to try this caramel roll, as the menu touts it as “famous.” This was my least favorite of the week, possibly because it was sans pecans. Also, this is not served a la mode. That’s an ice cream scoop of straight up BUTTER. Get ‘er done!

Moose and Sadie’s. This cute cafe by Max’s apartment is our go to spot for good breakfast. The pecan roll was delicious and I’d definitely have it again. But nothing can beat the challenger at…

Uptown Diner. Best pecan roll in the Cities, hands down. No matter how hard I try, I can’t find a better one! It’s just the right consistency of doughiness and gooeyness. Until next year, my little ball of perfection!
