About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

Eating in Minneapolis, Part II: New Restaurants!

After polling in-the-know Twin Citians, the two new restaurants I decided to try were Barrio and Brasa.

Barrio is a new Mexican tapas restaurant on Nicollet Avenue. We tried a few things off the late nite menu, and although tasty (sorry, too dark for pics!) I wasn’t blown away. Perhaps I’ll have to go back and try the full menu. The drink pictured above was my favorite part of the meal: a passionfruit margarita with champagne and peppers!

Brasa was hands down the most recommended restaurant, and a place I had never heard of. But after this trip, I’m permanently adding it to my Minneapolis rotation. It’s a gourmet rotesserie by the same guy who does Restaurant Alma. You pick your meat (chicken, pork, or beef) and two comfort food sides; I did chicken, creamed spinach with jalapeño, and masa corn and cheese cakes. What’s more, it’s extremely affordable. That whole plate of food cost me $12!

I’m still dreaming about the butterscotch pudding with whipped cream and shortbread cookie. It was the perfect way to finish such a hearty meal, and one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Thanks to everyone who recommended this restaurant!
