About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

Georgetown Cupcake, Washington DC

I finally got to try DC’s most famous cupcakes. We arrived shortly after the shop opened at 11, and there was already a line down the street! These better be some darn good cupcakes, I thought.

We chose vanilla/vanilla, vanilla/chocolate, carrot, lemon (my fave of the bunch), chocolate lava, and chocolate hazelnut. I was really excited, as you can see. (please ignore the frosting that melted off the top of the two on the right.)

To be honest, they weren’t life changing. They’re good, but I’ve had better. And I’m thinking DC has better. Next time I’ll try Baked and Wired or Hello Cupcake. Any other recommendations?

Pets had the great idea of taking our cupcakes out on our canoeing adventure. Of course I kept the goodies by me, and Pets had to use her oar to retrieve treats.

It was a great system until this happened.

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life.

I’ll leave you with the inside of the chocolate lava cupcake. This was my runner-up. Mmmm mmmm!
