About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

What Katie Ate

9 October 2009
Forty Carrots, Upper East Side
Recently I realized my friend Rena hangs out at Bloomingdale’s a lot. When I asked her what she’s been shopping for, she let me in on a little secret. “I go for the frozen yogurt!” she said, claiming it’s the best in the city.
So last Friday we traded in cocktails for fro-yo and had happy hour at Forty Carrots, Bloomie’s health conscious café.
Ladies and gentleman, this is my SMALL dish of plain and raspberry. Yes, that’s right. For five dollars you get pretty much all the fro-yo you can eat. I made it about halfway through before my body cried uncle.
The yogurt was delicious—more creamy and dense than Pinkberry. It was actually closer to TCBY than anything else. Flavors are plain, chocolate, coffee, and the following:
Sunday: BlueberryMonday: MangoTuesday: Banana Wednesday: StrawberryThursday: Peanut butterFriday: RaspberrySaturday: Butter pecan
Fortunately/unfortunately for me, the SoHo Bloomie’s (directly across the street from my gym) also serves the stuff. Looks like I know what I’ll be having for dinner more often than not.
