About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

Where to Brunch in Washington, DC

I had two delicious brunches last weekend in our nation’s capital, both at restaurants I’ve frequented before. This trip was all about enjoying the favorites. Next trip I’ll have to seek out some new places. Suggestions are always appreciated!

As I’ve said before, Belga quite possibly could be my favorite restaurant in DC, and definitely my favorite brunch spot. I played it safe by ordering my favorite liege waffle, but my friend did it up with the decadent crepes filled with bananas, Nutella, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream. Yes, that does qualify as breakfast food.

Belga also has great pommes frites, served with a trio of homemade mayos…

…and champagne cocktails (a personal favorite). This one, the Fleur d’Amour, had a hibiscus flower floating in the glass. Definitely had to have more than one.

Another fantastic brunch was had at Matchbox. I love their food (don’t miss the apple and pear salad with candied pecans, gorgonzola, and honey-balsamic vinaigrette) and casual ambiance. For my first time brunching there, I feasted on french toast stuffed with honey cream cheese and smothered in maple butter syrup. To die for.
