About

Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.

Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.

I am an editor at Zagat, but all opinions on this blog are mine and have nothing to do with my employer.

I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

No matter how much you stuffed yourself silly during the holidays, there’s always room for brunch—and all of its accoutrements.

Whether on the East Coast or the West, I always gotta get my short stack on.

Comfort food, defined.
Masa cakes, house-made chorizo, black beans, and poached eggs from The Brooklyn Star in Williamsburg. Quite possibly the heartiest brunch menu I have ever encountered, from original Momofuku chef Joaquin Baca.

After waiting in line for two hours, Mama’s French Toast Sampler was mine.
Cranberry-Orange Walnut, Banana Walnut and Swedish Cinnamon. Impossible to pick a favorite, very possible to scrape the plate clean.

gregpaul asked: If you're looking for some great brunch places besides Lokal (which i find a bit on the pricey side) near that area you should try Matchless Bar! Their brunch menu isn't quite as fancy but the food they have is excellent and the service is outstanding. Try their biscuits and gravy!

Thanks Greg! Matchless is a long time fave of mine for boozing; glad to know they have a respectable brunch…and that mac ‘n cheese and french toast are both represented.

Got any more recommendations for me? Need one yourself? Ask away!

First brunch as a Brooklynite. Lokal, 12/4/2011
This year turned out to be a time of change for me. After five years at Fodor’s Travel (my first job out of college and the same one I’ve had the entire time I’ve lived in New York), I’m now pursuing a very exciting career at Google. And after five years in Manhattan, the last three and a half of which were spent in my beloved downtown apartment, I’ve decamped for my first “own place” in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Here’s to many more exhilarating changes in 2012. And lots of champagne brunches to celebrate them at.
