Eating my way through the Big Apple and around the world.Always in favor of extraordinary flavor versus saving a few calories, I’m constantly seeking the best restaurants, recipes, and random little food finds. This blog chronicles my discoveries, most of which are located in New York City, the foodie heaven I am fortunate to call home.
I've been in NYC since 2006, via Green Bay and Minneapolis. After living in Manhattan for five years, I finally made the move to Brooklyn (Greenpoint) at the end of 2011. I could not be more excited to discover and devour all the great eats in my new borough. (Recommendations very welcome!)
I take my photos with a point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SD850. Which goes to show that if you're passionate about photography but can't afford fancy camera equipment, you can still take quality photos.

Pre-adventure breakfast: Oats and flax seed with fresh fruit and maple syrup, vanilla latte from La Boulange Bakery on Polk Street
Highway 1 drive along the Pacific Coast, Stinson Beach break, Tomales Point hike
Post-hike reward: Open-faced sandwich with tomato jam and cheeses from Cowgirl Creamery in Point Reyes

gregpaul asked: If you're looking for some great brunch places besides Lokal (which i find a bit on the pricey side) near that area you should try Matchless Bar! Their brunch menu isn't quite as fancy but the food they have is excellent and the service is outstanding. Try their biscuits and gravy!
Thanks Greg! Matchless is a long time fave of mine for boozing; glad to know they have a respectable brunch…and that mac ‘n cheese and french toast are both represented.

First brunch as a Brooklynite. Lokal, 12/4/2011
This year turned out to be a time of change for me. After five years at Fodor’s Travel (my first job out of college and the same one I’ve had the entire time I’ve lived in New York), I’m now pursuing a very exciting career at Google. And after 5 years in Manhattan, the last 3.5 of which were spent in my beloved downtown apartment, I’ve decamped for my first “own place” in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Here’s to many more exhilarating changes in 2012. And lots of champagne brunches to celebrate them at.
Family is coming to town for Thanksgiving and we’re going to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Thought it would be fun to walk over and see the rink and make a classic New York nite of it. Would love your recommendations for dining at Rock Center or in the area. Thanks!
The Butler and the Chef was repeatedly recommended to me as the most underrated brunch in San Francisco. It’s tucked away in sleepy South Park but the masses have found it; we waited out our table for a good while. The sunny patio perch, bright mimosas, and French fare well made up for it, though. And who doesn’t love a restaurant that brings out truffles with the check. It’s never too early for chocolate.
My first meal in San Francisco (ever, ever EVER!) was at Delarosa. The trendy yet casual restaurant in the Marina neighborhood was packed on a Saturday nite, but the hour long wait let us discover a very charming wine bar/store a few doors down.
The meal was delicious, and even with a glass of wine it clocked in under $40. There were so many great sounding dishes on the menu (chicken sausage, red grapes, and mustard!!) that I can’t wait to return and order a completely different dinner.
Mozzarella with garden veggies, Roman-style mushroom-fontina-thyme pizza, and the star, house-made donuts with a trio of dipping sauces (chocolate, raspberry andmascarpone cream).
